I like the idea of the Keep a Child Alive campaign but it's all a bit morbid don't you think? In attempts to raise money for charity a bunch of celebs will be logging off their social media accounts and playing dead "socially", meaning they will not sign back on until $1 million has been raised for Alicia Keys' Keep A Child Alive cause.

Rihanna's Long Red Hair
So now it looks like Rihanna is rocking a long red 'do. To be honest, when I first saw her with the long red locks, I just figured she was on her way to have her hair done, meaning cut, put in an updo, or something. Looks like I was totally wrong, instead the long hair look is what she was going for. What do you think of it?

Lavender Jamaican Black Castor Oil
(Lavendar Jamaican Black Castor Oil, $8.99 OilsfromJamaica.com)I'm a big of Jamaican Black Castor Oil because it really does work to help hair grow in faster. After a while the people over at Tropical Isles added lavender to the original verison to help cover up the smokey scent of the regular stuff. I've tried both and I love both. The original Jamaican Black Castor Oil scent never bothered me and I never understood why people complained about the scent. Truth be told, the lavendar scented Jamaican Black Castor Oil smells just a tiny bit better than the original, so really I don't even think it's worth it.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil Conditioner
(Black Castor Oil Protein Conditioner, $11.99 Oilsfromjamaica.com)For a while there I was adding some JBCO (jamaican black castor oil) to my conditioners to provide additional softness and help make my hair stronger and healthier. Now there is no need to play kitchen mixtress, I can buy Black Castor Oil Protein Conditioner to help remedy my hair and scalp issues. The conditioner contains black castor oil, cactus oil, pimento oil, mayonnaise, apple cider and other hair friendly ingredients. Together, these ingredients are chock full of Essential Fatty Acids, protein, vitamins and minerals that builds, repairs, energizes and return your hair to a state of good health. It's excellent for dried damaged hair, split ends, hair breakages, dandruff etc. Tropic Isle Living Black Castor Oil Protein Conditioner will leave your hair light, bouncy and with a glow.
This conditioner gets an A+ from me. The only downside is that your hair will feel like it has some oil in it even after rinsing out the conditioner. If you plan on wearing your hair straight this might not be for you, but since I'm avoiding heat and air drying it's perfect!

Self Relax: Cantu Clinical Straightening Relaxer
So a few weeks ago I self relaxed using Cantu Clinical Straightening No Lye Relaxer System. I must say that this relaxer is the best at home relaxer I've ever used. Usually I have to turn to other products along the way while I'm relaxing whether it's vaseline to base my scalp and hair line or a better conditioner to thoroughly moisturize my hair after relaxing, but with the Cantu relaxer everything I needed plus more was included with the kit.Step 2: Anti-Breakage Pre-Care Treatment. This step is applied only to hair that has been previously relaxed as it helps to reduce the possibility of unnecessary breakage or damage.
Step 3: Deep Conditioning Straightening Crème
Step 4: Liquid Activator
Step 5: Neutralizing Color Indicator Shampoo with Anti-Itch. This step suspends the relaxing process and ensures thorough rinsing to reveal any relaxer residue. Anti-itch formula penetrates deep to provide instant relief of a dry, itchy scalp.
Step 6: Intensive Reconstructing Treatment. This step repairs damage caused by chemicals, heat or color applied to hair. Helps restore incredible softness, elasticity and shine to even the most severely damaged hair or dry, brittle hair.
Step 7: Deep Conditioning Moisturizing Treatment. This step restores moisture and infuses Shea Butter to nourish and strengthen hair.

Beauty Break: Estee Lauder Sensuous Noir

I absolutely love Estee Lauder's Sensuous and now they are introducing Sensuous Noir - a deeper, more mysterious and even more captivating expression of feminine sensuality . . .
Like Sensuous, Sensuous Noir is built from a core of Melted Wood NaturePrint, Honey and Amber. The change? Sensuous Noir the floral aspects have been intensified to reinforce the deeper sensuality. By adding Exotic Purple Rose, Rose Essence and Spiced Lily, a darker, midnight garden aura was created. Also, a Crème Noir Accord and Patchouli Prisma – a new extraction of an iconic symbol of sensuality -have been added to “darken” the core signature accord of the Melted Woods. Finally, Sensuous Noir increases the presence of Black Pepper, Vanilla, Amber and Benzoin, contributing to the rich darkness of the fragrance. The result is a new, even richer, sensual dimension of the fragrance that is signature Sensuous, but meant for after dark.
Run, don't walk to your nearest Estee Lauder counter and try it out, I bet you won't leave without buying!

Lifestyle Leak: Southern Belle Montclair

My favorite items were the Fried Chicken which was crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside, seasoned perfectly it gave my Gram's Fried chicken a sprint for it's money. YES, it was that good. In fact, I called my mother from the table and told her, "don't tell gram but I'm eating chicken that's just as good as her's ... maybe even better!" The waffle was just a typical belgium waffle, if you're interested nothing special.

Beauty Break: Essie Fall 2010 Swatches

My favorite nail polish brand is Essie. In my eyes Essie can do no wrong, I love all the color collections and the Fall into Fashion Collection is no different. So far, I've tried Sew Psyched on my fingers, which is a muted sea moss green shade that looks very now since Military looks are all the rage. This color will compliment a Military inspired outfit with no problems. Plus, it looks great on brown skin.
I also tried Limited Addiction and it's super pretty on toes. It's a sexy and seductive deep red shade, the more layers the deeper the red. For some reason this shade makes me think of the HBO series (my favorite HBO series) True Blood. The only thing is that as soon as a red polish starts to chip, I mean even the tiniest little chip, I have to either remove it all or fix it right then and there. Chipped red nails is a serious no-no in my book, it looks super duper tacky.

Rounding out the colors that I've tried so far is In Stitches, is a classic shade that looks best on shorter nails. Usually, anything in mauve looks old school but I actually like this color on brown skin. It's a dusty mauve/rose shade that is anything but new, yet still fits right in with this collection nicely.

Wrap Lotion to Blow Dry

This do-all wonder is great for a variety of hair types and does everything from enhancing curls, to holding wraps, wet sets and thermal styles, but is also great for fine/thinner hair types as a texturizing and volumizing mousse. The perfect pre-blow dry lotion, that gives you gorgeous volume, without the stiffness or residue that other texturizing products can leave behind. I never thought to use a Foaming Wrap Lotion before I blow dried my hair, but now that I have I had to share with the world.

Rihanna turns down the Red
So Rihanna was recently spotted turning on the Christmas lights at Westfield shopping centre in west London but what I noticed was how her once fire engine red hair is beginning to look darker. I actually prefer this red to the bright red, how about you? It's still bright, but it's not as 'Loud' as it once was.
Milan Fashion Week Spring 2011 Hair
For Versace Spring/Summer 2011 it looks like Guido took a cue from some of the ladies on the hair care boards! The look was high fashion hair meets the length retention method of baggying the ends. At Versace the hair was slicked back into a low bun covered by PVC for a patent leather feel.
"Donatella and I discussed this look quite a bit; as typically she loves big, voluminous sexy hair for her show. Through this departure from that, we wanted to show that hair kept close to the head that draws attention to the face can be just as high glamour as big hair. This is a look anyone can wear, as long as she has the confidence to allow her face the extra exposure exposed. Also, not using so much product could also tone down the look a bit too for everyday. And the accessories, like the pieces of PVC plastic, can add a bit of fun into such a glamorous, high fashion shape." - Guido, Redken Creative Consultant
Rock the Look:
- Apply Redken hardwear 16 super strong gel in sections thoroughly through entire head of hair all the way to just past the nape of the neck, using a comb to create a smooth texture with no part.
- Smooth hair all the way back on the top and sides and pull together in a low ponytail secured at the nape of the neck.
- Coil hair around itself into a knot and pin into place.
- Take a piece of PVC plastic (or any type of square shaped material you'd like to use) and secure around the bun with an elastic, allowing the ends of the square piece to essentially "stick out."
- Finish entire look with slicking on heavy amounts of glass 01 smoothing serum for that glassy, patent leather texture.
The 1930s hairstyle at Prada’s Spring/Summer 2011 Collection was playful and fun. Guido kept the hair close to the head in a high shine, high gloss texture with two playful knots – think mannequin-like hair with a lacquer finish, almost like it’s painted on. Or think back to Missy Elliot rocking the vinyl bubble suit with the ill finger waves!
“We wanted a carefree, youthful and fun look, but also have that high Prada glamour that represents the design house. The two knots at the back of the head emphasize the playful girl yet the high gloss, shine and finger waves make it glamorous and impactful on the runway.” – Guido, Redken Creative Consultant
Rock the Look:
Create a deep side part, and apply Redken hardwear 16 super-strong sculpting gel in generous amounts to the entire head, smoothing the part over the side.
- Next, create finger waves on the forehead with a tail comb.
- Divide the back of the head into two sections with a straight middle part and twist each one into a small knot at the base of the head about 2-3 inches apart, so you can still see a bit of the knots from the front.
- Secure knots with pins and finish them with forceful 23 super strength finishing spray for hold. To create the final touch, apply a generous amount of glass 01 smoothing serum all over for that wet, shiny, lacquered look!
The hair style for the Alberta Ferretti’s Spring/Summer 2011 Collection was inspired by a rock and roll vibe – very Bohemian with matte, natural textured. The Collection is features very long, flowing feminine dresses with a "hippie" feel, so the hair really complements the clothes rather than contrasting it.
"Alberta Ferretti is a show that women always look forward to because the fashion is very feminine – the kind of clothes any woman would want to wear. To complement the easiness on the runway, I created natural bohemian hair, yet still keeping each woman unique by simply enhancing her natural texture." – Guido, Redken Creative Consultant
Rock the Look:
- Apply a generous amount of velvet gelatine 07 cushioning blow dry gel in your hands and work into damp hair, applying it by scrunching it in sections concentrating at the roots to bring out the natural texture
- Finger dry hair with a blow dryer, scrunching sections towards the scalp and lightly twist pieces away from the face.
- Before going on the runway or out on the town, rough up the texture with your hands just a bit, but not touching it too much to keep the matte texture.
