Relaxer Review: Fabulaxer

I recently (2/2) had my hair relaxed using Fabulaxer. I normally hit up the drugstore prior to heading to my beauty salon, to seek out a relaxer but this time I decided to try one of theirs. Usually, I don't have any tingling or irritation to my scalp when I get a relaxer done, partly because I have a pretty tough scalp. But I felt a slight tingly feeling after just a few minutes of having the relaxer on my scalp, now I have never had a chemical burn (knock on wood) and I wasn't about to see what it felt like. At the slightest feeling of the tingle I demanded that it be rinsed out, my stylist wanted to spray on some oil sheen (ummm excuse me, what is that going to do?) I said no no, get it out now. She asked me (politely) to wait because she did not have a chance to work it through a second time and the results would be less than perfect. Now at this point the tingle is turning into something slightly more intense and I said, very firmly and probably a little louder than necessary (but hey I was thinking of my scalp) "NO! Get it out right now!" Of course she did, and luckily my scalp survived no burns or sore spots and my hair came out just fine especially since I'm not a fan of bone straight relaxed hair anyway. I like to be able to rock a wash and go during the summer months.
Bottom line: I would not use this relaxer again, because I think it may have been too strong for my hair type.

5 two cents:

Good thing you demanded she rinse it out. I've had a relaxer burn before - ouch!

Thanks for the review.

I actually love this relaxer! I've been using it it for a while now- i actually have a box stored in my house and it's quite tempting since I'm trying to go natural.

Did you try the Super or Regular Strength?

I have thick African American Hair and dry sensitive scalp. Have been using lye relaxers which gave me harsh burns and had to berinsed out before the processing time had expired. I tried the Fabulaxer (regular) for the first time my scalp did'nt even tingle and my hair was relaxed .
